I don’t understand how writers can be misunderstood because they can write their feelings down on paper. I do understand though that they would be frustrated. I think that to an extent readers can tell writers their feelings about their work to them. You don’t want to be rude or offend the writer, because they really put time into their work of art. But opinions do matter to writers I think. I think that other people’s opinions helps shape their future writing. I think that it is just a convenience factor that at this day in age that we can just copy down things or Xerox them instead of buying the whole book. It seems like nowadays we just need parts of writing from authors, not the whole book.
The one simple demand is that we do not plagiarize. Now plagiarizing is a huge deal, in the real world, and in school. I really like the lines on page 350 that say “It is as if intellectual and artistic property were so much capital goods. Surely to borrow an author’s work is not the worst possible imaginable mistreatment.” Capital goods are things that are produced to be used for consumption or to be used. Intellectual and artistic properties are not things that can just be produced. It has have time put into it. And I think that borrowing an author’s work is different from plagiarizing. I think that borrowing can also be known as paraphrasing. Copying is completely different.
When you have the opportunity to voice your opinion you should take advantage of it. It is said that it is irresponsible to not voice your opinion and I think that this is true. I think that this actually applies to real life, like for example, the election that is coming up. I think that everyone should vote because everyone has the responsibility and the right to. Voting is a way of voicing your opinion.
We are all occupied in a sense. We are occupied with ourselves and with being taken over. We are all being colonized. We try to escape our “occupation”.
